TranslatePress review: visual WordPress translation

translatepress.com

TranslatePress is a visual translation plugin for WordPress from Reflection Media in Romania. It costs €99 to €349 a year with 50,000 to 500,000 AI words, and Google machine translation becomes unlimited with your own API key.

Our verdict on TranslatePress

TranslatePress suits an English-language WordPress site, often built with a page builder or WooCommerce, that wants Spanish or Portuguese pages translated in context and then polished by hand. With your own Google key, volume is no longer capped by the license.

Before switching on the built-in AI for unreleased descriptions, know that page text goes to the publisher’s servers, sometimes triggered by ordinary page visits. Prices are in euros only.

How many AI words each TranslatePress plan includes

Each TranslatePress license includes a number of words translated by TranslatePress AI: 2,000 in the free version, then 50,000, 200,000 or 500,000. The plugin also connects to Google Translate with your own API key, which makes automatic translation unlimited on the TranslatePress side. Google bills those calls separately. From the Business license up, an add-on connects DeepL through your DeepL key.

Translating pages in the visual editor

You open a page on the front end, click a string and type its translation with a live preview. The whole page translates this way, including shortcode output, forms and page builders, and it works with WooCommerce. Translations stay in your site’s database, so you keep them if you stop paying. URL slugs translate too, and the language switcher works as a menu item, floating dropdown or block. Version 3.3.7 shipped in late September 2026.

What TranslatePress AI sends off your server

When TranslatePress AI is on, page text goes to the publisher’s servers along with your license key, site URL, language settings and plugin version, and front-end page visits can trigger it. You must have the right to send that content. With a Google or DeepL key, those providers’ terms apply to the text instead.
