Is Polylang free?
Yes, the core Polylang plugin is free on WordPress.org and puts no limit on the number of languages. You write each translation, and Polylang links the versions. It covers posts, pages, media, categories, tags, custom post types, classic menus and widgets, with the language set in the URL, a subdomain or a separate domain.
A language switcher comes as a block, widget or menu item, right-to-left scripts are supported and it works with Yoast SEO. It needs WordPress 6.5 and PHP 7.4 or later, and version 3.8.10 shipped in late September 2026. No text leaves your server, and no usage terms apply to your content.
What Polylang Pro adds: DeepL and XLIFF
Polylang Pro translates a post or page with DeepL from inside the editor, using a DeepL API key you pay for separately, and supports DeepL glossaries. It is not yet compatible with Elementor. Your text then falls under DeepL’s terms, and DeepL’s free tier uses submitted text for training.
For human translation, Pro exports pages, posts and media as XLIFF files that agencies can open, then imports the result. Interface strings export as PO or XLIFF. Pro also adds translated URL slugs, content duplication across languages, ACF Pro integration and premium support.
Polylang pricing
Licenses are yearly, priced in euros before VAT, with a year of updates and support, and renewals cost half price. There are no dollar prices.
