Vicetemple review: adult-only hosting, slow VPS ports

vicetemple.com

Vicetemple has sold hosting, themes and services built only for adult sites since 2016, from Amsterdam and three North American cities. Shared hosting costs $6 a month with a dedicated IP, VPS plans start at $28 on a 100 Mbps port, and dedicated servers at $158.

Our verdict on Vicetemple

Vicetemple suits a first-time adult webmaster who wants a host that never questions the niche, bills discreetly and manages the VPS for free. US webmasters can pick Los Angeles or Miami for a VPS or dedicated server, and Canadians Toronto.

Skip the VPS for a tube: every VPS is capped at a 100 Mbps port, so video projects should start on dedicated hardware. And pay invoices on time, because a three-day delay can cost you all your data.

Why a Vicetemple VPS is the wrong pick for video

Every Vicetemple VPS, from $28 to $418 a month, runs on a 100 Mbps port. The entry Noble plan has 2 cores on a Xeon E5-2650 v2, 2 GB of RAM and 20 GB of SSD in RAID 10, with root access, a dedicated IP and free server management. That is enough for a photo site, a blog or a directory, and too little for streaming.

Vicetemple dedicated servers

Dedicated servers start at $158 a month for the Gladius: a 4-core Core i7-6700K, 32 GB of DDR4 ECC and two 256 GB NVMe drives, on an unmetered 1 Gbps port with IPMI. The range tops out at $735. Dedicated servers are never refunded.

Vicetemple shared hosting

The Play Bunny plan costs $6 a month for 15 GB of SSD, cPanel, unlimited traffic and a dedicated IP, and plans go up to $44. Shared hosting runs in Amsterdam, while VPS and dedicated servers can also be placed in Los Angeles, Miami or Toronto.

When Vicetemple closes an account

Breaking the usage rules gets every linked account terminated without notice or refund. There is no published DMCA procedure. Vicetemple also refuses customers from a list of countries that includes Russia, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.

Vicetemple billing, late payments and refunds

All plans are billed discreetly, and you can pay by card, bank transfer, Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. An invoice unpaid one day after its due date allows Vicetemple to suspend the service without notice, and after three days it can terminate it and delete all content. Shared and VPS plans can be refunded within 30 days of each payment, renewals included. Dedicated servers, domains, themes, scripts and agency services are never refunded, and neither is anything paid in crypto.

Strengths and limitations of Vicetemple

Strengths

  • Built for adult sites, with discreet billing.
  • A dedicated IP on $6 shared hosting.
  • Free VPS management.
  • US and Canadian locations for VPS and dedicated.

Limitations

  • 100 Mbps ports on every VPS.
  • Suspension after one day of non-payment.
  • No refunds on dedicated servers or crypto.
  • No published DMCA process.
  • No real violence or fiction with underage characters, hentai included.

Vicetemple vs Zomro for a Dutch VPS

Zomro also welcomes adult sites on its Dutch servers and rents an AMD EPYC VPS from €6.95 a month on a 500 Mbps port, billed by the month or the day, but it can throttle busy servers and never refunds crypto. A video site gets more bandwidth for less at Zomro. Vicetemple wins on free server management and an adult-only focus.
