Hostinger review: $2.99 a month only with 48 months prepaid

hostinger.com

Hostinger, founded in Lithuania in 2004, sells its Premium shared plan for $143.52 for 48 months paid upfront, or $2.99 a month, then renews at $10.99 a month, and its VPS starts at $6.49 a month.

Our verdict on Hostinger

Hostinger is a fair choice for a content-led adult site, a blog, review site or affiliate site, that wants cheap mainstream hosting with US data centers. Shared hosting works as long as visitors do not upload files and the site does not serve banners to other sites.

A user-upload tube, an image host or an ad network has to go on the VPS, which you manage yourself. The headline shared price only applies if you pay four years at once.

Scripts Hostinger bans on shared hosting

The hosting agreement lists content not allowed on web hosting, and several items match common adult business models: image hosting scripts where anonymous users upload pictures to display elsewhere, banner ad services for other sites, file dump scripts where anonymous users upload files for others to download, BitTorrent trackers and commercial audio streaming beyond one or two streams.

"Unlimited" plans run under a fair usage policy: up to 3 GB of database usage and 300 databases on shared hosting, plus limits on inodes, CPU and memory. Go past them and the site can slow down or be suspended.

What Hostinger shared hosting really costs

The $2.99 Premium price requires 48 months upfront, $143.52 in one payment, and renews at $10.99 a month.

Plan48 months upfrontPer monthRenewal
Premium, 3 sites, 20 GB$143.52$2.99$10.99
Unlimited, 50 GB NVMe$191.52$3.99$16.99
Cloud Startup, 100 GB NVMe$383.52$7.99$25.99

A domain is free for the first year, and the control panel is Hostinger's own hPanel rather than cPanel.

Hostinger VPS for adult projects

The KVM 1 VPS costs $6.49 a month, then $11.99 at renewal, for 1 vCPU, 4 GB of RAM, 50 GB of NVMe and 4 TB of bandwidth. The shared hosting bans do not apply, and root access lets you install a tube or gallery script. KVM 2 is $8.99 then $14.99, KVM 4 $12.99 then $28.99, and KVM 8 $25.99 then $49.99, with resources doubling at each step up to 8 vCPU, 32 GB and 32 TB.

The VPS is self-managed: security and updates are your job. Hostinger sells no dedicated servers.

Hostinger locations, payment and refunds

Shared and cloud hosting can sit in Phoenix, Boston or Asheville in the US, in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, or in five European countries. On the US site you can pay by card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, AliPay or crypto, but crypto purchases are never refunded. Other purchases are refundable if cancelled within 30 days.

Uptime is guaranteed at 99.9% a month. A missed month earns, on request, a credit of 5% of that month's fee, usable only for other Hostinger purchases. Hostinger started in Kaunas, Lithuania, in November 2004. The company you contract with depends on your country of residence: Hostinger UK Limited in London, a Singapore or Luxembourg company for some country groups, an Indonesian company in Indonesia, and Hostinger International Limited in Cyprus otherwise.

Hostinger strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • Three US data centers, plus India and Brazil.
  • A cheap entry VPS with root access.
  • 30-day refunds, except crypto.

Limitations

  • Headline price tied to four years upfront.
  • Renewal far above the introductory rate.
  • Anonymous uploads and ad networks banned on shared.
  • Self-managed VPS and no dedicated servers.
  • Only a 5% credit when uptime slips.
  • No adult content from the AI tools, the WordPress assistant and website builder, and pornography is banned for customers in Indonesia.

Hostinger vs Host4Porn for adult shared hosting

Host4Porn, an adult-only host in New Jersey, charges $10.99 a month for its entry shared plan, month to month, with no renewal increase. Hostinger's Premium renews at the same rate but is far cheaper for the first four years if you prepay. Host4Porn bans incest content and linking to it, while Hostinger's shared plans ban anonymous uploads and ad serving: pick the one whose rules fit your site.
