WebsiteBroker review: cheap listings, almost no buyers

websitebroker.com

WebsiteBroker is a California classifieds site, running since 1997, where you list a website or domain for $9.95 per 90 days and pay no commission when it sells. It has an adult category, but the whole catalog holds two websites, one of them adult.

Our take on WebsiteBroker

WebsiteBroker is cheap and commission-free, but with two websites listed in the entire catalog, few buyers seem to browse it any more. For a small adult site, a standard listing is a low-cost extra channel. It is no substitute for a busy marketplace or for an adult-industry broker such as Broker.xxx, which charges commission but brings the buyers.

What a WebsiteBroker listing costs

A standard listing costs $9.95 for 90 days, for a website or a domain. Premiere costs $29.95 for a website and $14.95 for a domain. Sellers pay only the listing fee, through PayPal, and owe nothing when the sale closes. Buyers browse and make contact for free. Premiere puts the listing at the top of categories and searches, allows five images and adds a Google Analytics check for websites. If a complaint shows a listing is fraudulent, WebsiteBroker removes it and refunds the lister.

How many listings WebsiteBroker has

With every filter open, the website directory shows two sites for sale, one General and one Adult (18+ / 21+), and the domain directory shows none. The home page lists no new listings.

Listing an adult site

The guidelines only ask that adult content be put in the right category, and the sell form has an “adult content” box. Adult listings are hidden by default, so a visitor must change a filter to see them. Each listing covers one site on its own domain, needs an asking price and may not link to other sites.

What WebsiteBroker leaves to buyer and seller

WebsiteBroker connects the two sides and nothing more. It does not verify content, traffic, revenue or ownership, and takes no part in payment, escrow or transfer. Its terms tell both parties to do their own due diligence with a lawyer or accountant. Support answers through a feedback form, Monday to Friday during Pacific business hours. The company is Website Broker, Inc. of Palm Desert, California, founded in 1997 by two California attorneys.

WebsiteBroker strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • Low listing fees and no sale commission.
  • An adult category in the rules.
  • A named California company.

Limitations

  • Two websites for sale in the whole catalog.
  • Adult listings hidden by default.
  • No listing checks and no escrow.

WebsiteBroker or an adult broker

Broker.xxx, tied to JuicyAds, takes 10% of the price up to $1 million, only if the site sells, writes the listing and sees the transfer through. WebsiteBroker charges per listing and leaves everything, including finding a buyer, to the seller.
