AgeGO review: ExoClick’s age verification for adult sites

agego.com

AgeGO is the age verification gateway of Age Verification Technology, a Barcelona company founded in 2018 and part of EXOGROUP, the group behind ExoClick. It claims more than 100 million checks a month, offers UK visitors a selfie or a credit card and US visitors a selfie or an ID, and quotes sites privately in euros.

Our verdict on AgeGO

AgeGO suits a high-traffic tube or free site that wants a drop-in age gate many visitors already have an account with, backed by an ACCS certificate and German KJM approval. One script covers the page, verified visitors carry their status between AgeGO sites, and ExoClick traffic passes through without a second check.

The trade-offs are commercial: no published price, contradictory billing terms, and a contract AgeGO can end at any time without cause.

What UK and US visitors see when a site uses AgeGO

AgeGO picks the methods by country: a UK visitor chooses between a selfie and a credit card, a US visitor between a selfie and a selfie with a photo ID, and the credit card is not offered in the US. The check is free for the visitor and takes about a minute.

The selfie is analysed by Amazon Web Services. Germany’s KJM describes the rule: the visitor passes when the average of the estimated age range is 21 or more. Below that, or when the estimate fails, an ID is requested, checked by Klippa and face-matched against the selfie. Many 18 to 20-year-olds will therefore end up uploading a document.

The credit card route runs through Shift4 with 3D Secure and a zero-value transaction. Debit cards, prepaid cards, American Express, Discover and JCB are refused, which rules out many young UK adults whose only card is a debit card.

After a first check, the visitor can save it with a passkey, a Google account or an email code and log in on any other AgeGO site. A method accepted in one country may not be accepted in another, so travellers are sometimes asked to verify again.

AgeGO and Ofcom’s highly effective age assurance

AgeGO’s Age Assurance Platform v1.0 is certified under ACCS 1:2025 and ISO/IEC 27566-1:2025, and appears on the Age Check Certification Scheme registry. According to AgeGO, the assessment rated the platform “Highly Effective” under ACCS 1:2025’s indicators of effectiveness, the vocabulary Ofcom uses in its guidance for UK adult sites. Germany’s KJM approved AgeGO in July 2026 as an identification module, provided the site adds its own safeguards.

Under AgeGO’s terms, the site remains responsible for choosing methods that satisfy its regulator, and AgeGO is not liable for fines caused by that choice.

How to add AgeGO to an adult site

A business account is free to open, but an AgeGO admin must approve it before any site can be created. Two integrations follow:

  • a JavaScript snippet that overlays and blurs the page until the visitor is verified, with no backend work,
  • a server-to-server flow, where the site decides who to send to AgeGO and validates a signed result on return.

The site gets one of three answers, 18 or over, under 18, or unable to verify, and makes the access decision itself. It can also trigger AgeGO only for chosen countries, using IP geolocation, and let other visitors in directly.

Cross-site verification and ExoClick

Between two AgeGO sites, a single-use token valid for a few minutes travels with the click, so the visitor is not asked again. With ExoClick, the token is prepared automatically while the ad is displayed. For a network of sites or a publisher buying ExoClick traffic, that keeps already-verified visitors moving without a second gate.

How much does AgeGO cost?

AgeGO publishes no prices. Fees are set in a sales order, in euros, after a request through the business contact form. The documentation describes a monthly post-paid invoice based on the number of checks. The business terms say fees are generally prepaid, with a credit limit to raise. The sales order settles which applies.

Payments are non-refundable, late payments accrue at least 2% a month, and AgeGO may terminate at any time without cause. A site that depends on AgeGO to stay compliant should keep a second provider ready.

One public reference exists: AgeVerif offers AgeGO as one of its methods and charges €0.015 per successful AgeGO check.

Is AgeGO legitimate?

Yes. AgeGO is run by Age Verification Technology, S.L., registered in Barcelona, and its ACCS certificate and KJM approval can be checked on those bodies’ own websites. On Trustpilot, end users rate it 1.9 out of 5 from 104 reviews, 77% of them one star, mostly about a camera that will not capture, a check that freezes and debit cards being refused.

In September 2025, the research group AI Forensics found that AgeGO, then used in France by xvideos, xnxx and tnaflix, streamed webcam images straight to Amazon and forced visitors to give an email. AgeGO then named Amazon in its privacy policy, stopped recording the exact video a visitor was trying to watch, and made the account optional.

AgeGO questions from search results

Google shows these questions alongside “AgeGO review”.

Does AgeGO store your photos?

Not permanently, according to AgeGO. Selfie images stay with Amazon Web Services for up to one hour, and the liveness images AgeGO handles itself are deleted within 15 minutes. AgeGO says it keeps no ID document, card number, IP address or browser data. An optional visitor account holds an encrypted email, the creation date, the status and the method used.

Is AgeGO credit card verification safe?

The card check runs through Shift4, a payment processor, with 3D Secure and a zero-value transaction, so nothing is charged. AgeGO says card details are only processed for the transaction and kept for a limited time by Shift4 under PCI rules, and that AgeGO itself stores none.

AgeGO strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • A single script or a server flow for larger sites.
  • A reusable age proof, free for the visitor.
  • Checkable certificates: ACCS, ISO/IEC 27566-1 and KJM.
  • Automatic pass-through on ExoClick traffic.

Limitations

  • No public pricing and contradictory billing terms.
  • Termination at will by AgeGO.
  • A 21 selfie threshold that pushes 18 to 20-year-olds to ID.
  • No credit card in the US, and no debit cards anywhere.

AgeGO alternatives: Yoti and AgeVerif

Yoti sells eleven methods for adult sites, including its own facial estimation and the Digital ID app AgeGO relies on in some countries, but does not publish per-check prices either.

AgeVerif publishes its prices, free for most of its methods, and can route visitors to AgeGO as one option among others.
