Our verdict on Ondato

Ondato suits a creator platform, cam site or fan site that wants a proven adult-industry age check at a low published price. OnlyFans, Fansly, LiveJasmin, MyFreeCams, Fanvue and Playboy appear among its clients, and returning visitors can pass with a four-digit PIN instead of a new selfie.

Set the selfie threshold above 18. Ondato’s own NIST results show about a third of 16-year-olds estimated at 21 or older on some photo types, so borderline visitors need to go to the ID step.

What Ondato does for OnlyFans and Fansly

OnlyFans, a UK-based platform with more than 4.6 million creator accounts and 377 million fan accounts, has worked with Ondato since 2020. Fansly uses it to verify creators’ identity in under 30 seconds. Ondato’s adult platforms page also shows LiveJasmin, MyFreeCams, Fanvue and Playboy logos, and claims a 97% average pass rate and coverage of 192 countries.

How much does Ondato cost?

Ondato prices age verification at €0.30 to €0.01 per verification, and only completed checks are billed. The exact rate depends on volume and options, and goes through sales. Facial age estimation, ID fallback and an unlimited sandbox are included. Ondato takes bank transfer, card and crypto. Since September 2026, members of ASACP, the adult industry child protection association, get 15% off all Ondato services.

The range has no published tiers or minimum, so give your monthly check volume when asking for a quote.

How the Ondato age check works, and the OnAge PIN

The visitor takes a selfie, which passes a liveness check, and Ondato estimates their age in seconds. The site picks the threshold, 13, 16, 18, 21 or 25, and can set different thresholds by region. If the estimate fails, the visitor shows an ID document.

With OnAge, a verified visitor creates a four-digit PIN tied to their device and uses it on other OnAge sites instead of a new selfie. The site decides how long the PIN stays valid, for example 30, 60 or 90 days. Only the age result is shared, never a name or photo.

Ondato age estimation in NIST testing

Ondato submitted its age estimation model to NIST in November 2024. The published report card shows a mean absolute error of 3.31 to 5.78 years depending on the photo set. Among 16-year-olds, 25% of visa photos, 32% of application photos and 33% of border webcam photos were estimated at 21 or older.

Ondato advertises 99.8% verification accuracy, which measures something else. For an adult site, the NIST figures are the useful ones: keep the selfie threshold well above 18 so near-threshold visitors are sent to the ID check.

On Trustpilot, Ondato scores 1.5 out of 5 from 55 reviews: 64% one star and 27% five stars. The latest negative reviews, from June to September 2026, describe selfies flagged as blurry and liveness checks that keep failing after hours of tries. Ondato has claimed the page. For a creator platform, each failure delays a sign-up, so ask for pass rates in the demo.

Does Ondato keep your data?

By default, the selfie and any ID data are kept only for the time it takes to process the check. The OnAge PIN, device fingerprint and expiry stay valid for the period the site chose. Ondato also offers unlimited retention as an option where a regulator or the site’s own policy requires it. Data is processed on Microsoft Azure in the Netherlands and Ireland, and age estimation runs on FaceTec technology deployed inside Ondato’s infrastructure.

Is Ondato a legitimate company?

UAB Ondato is registered in Vilnius, Lithuania, where its research team sits, has been headquartered in London since 2021, and started trading under the Ondato name in October 2018. It claims more than 100 employees and 40 million onboarded users, holds a positive KJM assessment from 2022, IEEE 2089.1 certification for its age estimation and ISO/IEC 27001. Business buyers rate it 4.8 out of 5 from 80 reviews on G2. It does not list Ofcom-specific approvals on its adult pages.
