Google Rich Results Test review: limits for adult sites

search.google.com

Google's Rich Results Test checks the structured data on a page or a code snippet for free and shows which rich results it could qualify for. Google also states that explicit pages are not eligible for rich results.

Our verdict on Google Rich Results Test

For adult sites, the Rich Results Test pays off on the pages Google does not flag as explicit: your blog, your shop, your info pages. On an explicit page it can validate the markup, but no rich result will show, whatever the searcher's SafeSearch setting.

Can explicit pages get rich results?

No. Google's documentation says explicit pages are not eligible for rich results, featured snippets or video previews, regardless of SafeSearch. Perfect Review or Video markup on a gallery page will not change that. The test still matters for non-explicit pages, where Article, Breadcrumb, Organization or Product markup can earn an enhanced listing.

Marking adult products with hasAdultConsideration

In May 2026 Google added the hasAdultConsideration property to Merchant listing and Product variant structured data. It flags a product as adult-oriented, for example because it contains nudity or sexual content. If your shop sells toys or DVDs, that is the markup to validate here. The same month, Google stopped showing FAQ rich results.

Testing a page behind an age gate

The test fetches the page anonymously with Google-InspectionTool. Resources behind a login or a password are invisible to it, and pages blocked by robots.txt or noindex cannot be tested. If your age gate hides the markup, switch to the Code tab and paste the page's HTML instead.

Reading the test results

The smartphone crawler is the default, desktop is optional. Errors make a page ineligible, warnings do not. The preview shows how a result might look, with no promise it will appear. Test history is kept for about 90 days, and a shared link opens for anyone without permission, so do not share results for unpublished pages.
