Where the Fluid Player script comes from
The quick setup recommends one script tag pointing at the publisher’s CDN, under a path that always serves the latest version 3 release. The file weighs 268 KB, or 61 KB compressed. A new release reaches your pages without any change on your side. The same page gives a CDN address pinned to a version number, and the npm package suits projects built with Webpack or Vite, with the CSS imported separately.
Version 3.60.0 is the third release of 2026. Two open issues concern revenue. One, open since February 2026, reports an ad that fails to play when a video offers both an HLS stream and an MP4 file. The other, open since August 2026 without a reply, reports ads dropped when the creative’s server sends no CORS headers.
The WordPress plugin, version 3.0.0, was last updated in October 2023. It loads the CDN script on every front-end page, with or without a video.
The ad slots in Fluid Player
Fluid Player reads a VAST tag before the video, during it, after it and when the viewer pauses. Each slot takes fallback tags, tried when the first one returns nothing. VPAID interactive ads are off by default, and the ad server must answer with an XML content type.
Fluid Player strengths and limitations
Strengths
- VAST ads at no licence cost.
- An ad slot on pause.
- A CDN address pinned to a version.
Limitations
- Updates pushed by default.
- A WordPress plugin untouched since 2023.
- Support through GitHub issues only.
Fluid Player versus FV Player
FV Player sells its VAST and VPAID module as a yearly licence, $150 for one domain and $650 for five. Fluid Player ships VAST in the free player, with no domain count.
