Venice AI review: privacy with two exceptions

venice.ai

Venice AI generates text, images and video from $18 a month and promises never to read or store prompts. Its privacy policy still sets two exceptions: generated videos and uploaded faces.

Our verdict on Venice AI

Venice AI suits an adult webmaster who wants uncensored text, images and video, plus an API, without prompts being stored. Videos stay on its servers until downloaded, and an uploaded face is processed by a ByteDance subsidiary.

Venice AI plans and API credits

The free plan gives 10 text and 15 image prompts a day, with no NSFW image generation. Pro at $18 a month unlocks unlimited text, 1,000 images a day, video, music and 100 credits. Pro Plus at $68 gives 7,500 credits, worth $75 of API spend, banked for two months. Max at $200 gives 22,500, worth $225, banked for three. A hundred credits equal one dollar, and the API follows the OpenAI format. Credits can also be bought by card or crypto at the same rate. Fees are non-refundable.

What Venice still keeps

Venice says it does not access or store the content of prompts or outputs, only records of actions, and chats stay in the browser. Generated videos, however, are stored temporarily until downloaded because of their size. Face-based generation is handled by BytePlus in Singapore, which processes and briefly stores the image for that generation only. Model providers must not keep anything beyond processing, but do receive what prompts contain. A free account can be opened with a crypto wallet instead of an email.

The terms exclude child exploitation, including AI-generated material, and using a third party’s name, voice or likeness without consent. The service is open from age 13, with the mature content filter as the safeguard for minors.

Venice AI strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • An OpenAI-compatible API on credits.
  • Email-free accounts possible.

Limitations

  • Videos kept until downloaded.
  • Faces processed by BytePlus.
  • No company named.

Venice AI versus OpenRouter

OpenRouter also skips prompt logging by default and bills per token across 462 models with no subscription. Venice bundles its own app with image, video and music generation.
