Cashflows review: UK acquirer with same-day settlement

cashflows.com

Cashflows is a card acquirer licensed in the UK and the Netherlands and a principal member of Visa and Mastercard Europe. It settles in three days, next day or same day, and merchants can leave free of charge on one month’s notice.

Our verdict on Cashflows

Cashflows suits a UK or European adult business with at least four months of processing history that wants a merchant account straight from a licensed acquirer, fast settlement and a free exit.

How fast Cashflows settles

Subject to underwriting, you choose three-day settlement, next-day settlement, or same-day settlement up to eight times a day during business hours. Cashflows says it processes over 80% of applications within 24 hours.

Visa is available in 14 currencies and Mastercard in 13, plus Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. You can be settled in the currency and bank account of your choice.

Cashflows as a licensed acquirer

Cashflows is a principal member of Visa Europe and Mastercard Europe, so it provides the merchant account itself, with no sponsor bank, to businesses in the UK and the European Economic Area. In London it is authorised by the FCA as an electronic money institution under reference 900006. On the continent it trades through PayCheckout B.V. in Venray, licensed by the Dutch central bank under reference R12887.

Merchant funds are safeguarded and segregated, but e-money balances are not covered by the FSCS.

Age disclaimer, banned terms and Mastercard registration

Cashflows’ partner guide, version 1.0 from 2015, sets the site rules. The site must show an age disclaimer such as “all models over 18”, and Cashflows wants full access to the site, logins included, before deciding. Twelve terms are banned from URLs and content, and no images may show blood, real or synthetic.

Corporate cards are disabled. Cashflows prefers one merchant ID per website. Mastercard charges $500 a year in registration, payable before the account goes live.

What a Cashflows application needs

Cashflows asks for the last four months of processing statements from your current acquirer and a compliance letter signed by a director. A company with no history has to bring its direct parent’s statements and a parent company guarantee.

What Cashflows charges

No rate is published: fees are set in your pricing plan, with card issuer and scheme fees passed through.

The Cashflows security reserve

Cashflows can require a security reserve based on your sector and risk, with no published rate or duration. It notifies you before applying or changing it, and the amount is visible in the portal at any time.

Leaving Cashflows

You can leave with one month’s written notice and no cancellation charge. After you leave, Cashflows may hold back future settlements while chargebacks remain possible.

Strengths and limitations of Cashflows

Strengths

  • Licensed acquirer in the UK and the Netherlands.
  • Same-day settlement available.
  • Free exit on one month’s notice.
  • Reserve notified in advance.

Limitations

  • No startups without a parent already processing in the sector.
  • No published rate.
  • No American Express for adult.

Cashflows vs Segpay and CCBill

Segpay publishes its UK and Irish licenses, caps its reserve at 5% and pays every Tuesday. CCBill bills under its own name and pays every Monday. An established European business that wants its own account looks at Cashflows, a new site starts with Segpay or CCBill.
